Q: I need to use different buttons control buttons than the default double arrows. Can i set new images using actionscript 2
A: Yes, you can use your own designed arrows.
Case the parameter arrowsControl is set to “click” or “rollOver” ,you can change the arrows by making your own symbols with the linkage id "sliderBackHorizontal" and "sliderForwardHorizontal" if the orientation is set to horizontal, and "sliderBackVertical" and "sliderForwardVertical" if orientation is set to vertical.
This information can be found inside the documentation file received together with the Thumbnail Slider Pro V1 component at the bottom of page number 3.

Can you have it were the arrows are based on instance names, so that you can put the arrows were you want? For instance at the bottom of the slide show instead of on the sides?

You can use your own arrows, just set arrowsControl to "mouseMove" and use the selectPreviousThumb() and selectNextThumb() methods of the component when your custom arrows are selected.

Yes, that's right you just need to create two movieclips in your library with these two linkage ids: sliderForwardHorizontal, sliderBackHorizontal.See this http://screencast.com/t/3bNqNbuMldB
